Suez Canal Bank signs a cooperation protocol with Life Makers Foundation Egypt to support the “Eish & Malh” initiative, providing 200,000 meals for underprivileged families in 4 villages in Giza during Ramadan.

As part of its efforts to support social solidarity efforts and strengthening its role in corporate social responsibility, in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030, and under the patronage of the Central Bank of Egypt’s Central CSR Unit, Suez Canal Bank signed a cooperation protocol with Life Makers Foundation to participate in the “Eish & Malh” initiative, one of the largest food support campaigns during Ramadan. The initiative aims to provide 200,000 meals for underprivileged families in four villages (Mazghouna – Dahshour – El-Tarafaya – El-Shobak) in El-Badrashin district, Giza Governorate.

The cooperation protocol was signed by Nour Elzeny, Head of Financial Inclusion, Corporate Communication and CSR Sector at Suez Canal Bank, and Eng. Ahmed Moussa, CEO of Life Makers Foundation Egypt.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, H.E. Ambassador Nabila Makram, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work, Major General Mohsen El-Noamani, Chairman of Life Makers Board of Trustees, Former Minister Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Member of Life Makers Board of Trustees, Dr. Ayman Abdel Mawgoud, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and Mr. Mostafa Ezz El Arab, Assistant to the Minister of Youth and Sports, in addition to a number of public figures, leaders of civil society organizations, and representatives of community institutions.

The “Eish & Malh” initiative represents an integrated model of cooperation between different sectors of society, bringing together civil society organizations, the banking sector, and the government sector, along with wide participation from citizens and volunteers. This reflects the spirit of integration and solidarity within society, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

The initiative also expands the circle of giving to include restaurants and micro-businesses that encourage their customers to contribute an extra meal for donation under the slogan “Suspended Meal.” Around 500 restaurants participate in the initiative, each providing meals to support underprivileged families.

As a result of this collaboration, the initiative has successfully delivered more than 2.3 million meals to underprivileged families, with the participation of more than 22,000 young volunteers from across Egypt who contribute to preparing, organizing, and distributing the meals.

In this context, the CSR Department at Suez Canal Bank organized a volunteering day for employees to participate in distributing meals in Mazghouna village in El-Badrashin, Giza, reflecting the bank’s keenness to promoting a culture of volunteering and community participation, and contributing to bringing joy to underprivileged families during the holy month of Ramadan.

In this regard, Nour Elzeny stated that Suez Canal Bank’s participation in the “Eish & Malh” initiative comes from the bank’s belief in the importance of strengthening the values of solidarity and social support within society. She emphasized that the role of financial institutions is not limited to providing banking services, but also extends to contributing to improving quality of life and supporting underprivileged groups, which helps strengthen the social protection system in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and the Central Bank of Egypt’s direction.

She also noted that the initiative represents a successful model of cooperation between the banking sector, civil society organizations, and volunteers. She described it as “a campaign from Egyptians to Egyptians” aimed at reaching underprivileged families, explaining that the initiative is not limited to providing meals only, but also delivers a social message that reflects the spirit of giving. The participation of restaurants, small businesses, and volunteers reflects true cooperation between different sectors of society.

She added that the bank’s participation in this initiative comes as part of its CSR strategy aimed at creating a positive and sustainable impact, which supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 2): Zero Hunger and food security.

In the same context, Eng. Ahmed Moussa stated that the “Eish & Malh” initiative represents an integrated model of community work based on partnership and cooperation between different stakeholders. It helps strengthen the culture of community participation and encourages citizens to actively contribute to supporting underprivileged groups, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

He added that the initiative reflects the ability of civil society work in Egypt to mobilize community efforts and direct them toward supporting those most in need, through cooperation between the banking sector, government institutions, private sector organizations, and volunteers, which enhances the impact of community initiatives and ensures support reaches those who need it most.

At the end of the event, Nour Elzeny received an award from Life Makers Foundation in recognition of Suez Canal Bank’s contribution to supporting the “Eish & Malh” initiative and its ongoing efforts in the field of corporate social responsibility.
