Suez Canal Bank launches “Seket Rezk” initiative to empower youth from care homes in partnership with Sonaa Al-Kheir Foundation and talabat Egypt

As part of efforts to strengthen integration between civil society organizations, the private sector, and the public sector, a strategic partnership was launched between Suez Canal Bank, Sonaa El Khair Foundation for Development, a member of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work, and talabat Egypt, the leading technology platform for e-commerce across Middle East and North Africa, to introduce the “Seket Rezk” initiative under the patronage of the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

H.E. Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, attended the inauguration ceremony of the initiative, which aims to support and empower youth from care homes and equip them for effective integration into the labor market, in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030 to enhance social protection and economic empowerment for youth.

The event was attended by Dr. Mostafa Zamzam, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sonaa El Khair Foundation for Development; Mr. Hany Abdel Fattah, CEO of the Foundation; representatives of partner and supporting entities; and several leaders in the development sector, including Ms. Nour Elzeny, Head of Financial Inclusion, Corporate Communications, and CSR at Suez Canal Bank, and Ms. Hadeer Shalaby, Vice President and Managing Director of talabat Egypt, and Maha Saleh, Director of Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability at talabat Egypt.

The initiative aims to integrate 55 young men and women from care homes into the labor market by providing beneficiaries with transportation means (such as motorcycles and bicycles) funded by Suez Canal Bank, in addition to facilitating the opening of personal bank accounts to enable them to manage their income independently. It also provides employment opportunities in collaboration with talabat Egypt through its logistics partners, offering them real and sustainable jobs.

This collaboration reflects a comprehensive model of partnership between the private sector, the banking sector, and civil society, combining actual employment, production tools, and financial support to create a tangible and sustainable impact on the lives of the young beneficiaries, ensuring their transition from the care system to productive work and active participation in society.

H.E. Dr. Maya Morsy, emphasized that empowering youth from care homes represents a key priority within the Ministry’s strategy, stressing that transitioning from the stage of protection and care to economic independence is a fundamental step toward their full integration into society.

For his part, Dr. Mostafa Zamzam said: “The launch of this initiative comes within the Foundation’s approach, which places great importance on the economic and social empowerment of various groups under the umbrella of the National Alliance, and its commitment to extending its services to all governorates of the country.”

He added: “The initiative serves as strong evidence of the integration between the state, civil society, and the private sector. It is implemented with the participation of strategic partners, Suez Canal Bank and talabat Egypt, and embodies a model of effective partnership between the banking sector, the private sector, and civil society, combining financial support, economic empowerment, and actual employment, thereby creating a tangible social and developmental impact.

Mr. Akef El Maghraby, CEO and Managing Director of Suez Canal Bank, stated that the “Seket Rezk” initiative reflects the bank’s vision to create a developmental impact. He noted that the partnership model behind the initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between the banking sector, the private sector, and civil society to support the state’s objectives under Egypt Vision 2030 and the Central Bank of Egypt’s directions to promote economic empowerment and expand social protection.

In this context, Nour Elzeny, stated that the “Seket Rezk” initiative comes as part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility strategy. The initiative reinforces the concept of integrated partnerships among various institutions and reflects the Bank’s commitment to its developmental role in empowering underserved segments.

Elzeny further highlighted the Bank’s contribution in donating transportation vehicles to beneficiaries of the initiative, enabling them to join the labor market and achieve economic empowerment. This reflects the Bank’s vision of shifting from the concept of support to sustainable empowerment, creating tangible social and developmental impact. She also noted that beneficiaries were enabled to open bank accounts and deposit symbolic amounts, in addition to attending awareness sessions introducing them to the Bank’s financial services and products, encouraging them to better manage their finances and conduct transactions more easily.

Commenting on the launch, Hadeer Shalaby, Vice President, and Managing Director of talabat Egypt, said: “Seket Rezk initiative reflects our vision at talabat Egypt to create meaningful opportunities for youth and empower them both economically and socially, especially vulnerable groups such as care home residents. We believe that sustainable empowerment is built on providing actual job opportunities, essential work tools, and access to bank accounts that enable young people to rely on themselves and build a stable future.”

She added: “This initiative demonstrates our ability to foster effective partnerships between the private sector, the banking sector, and civil society, transforming collaboration into tangible and sustainable outcome. It aligns with national policies, promoting employment and financial inclusion, and contributes to building a generation capable of overcoming challenges and supporting long-term economic and social development.”
