Suez Canal Bank Strengthens Its Presence in Upper Egypt with the Opening of Its Latest Branch in Sohag Governorate

As part of its ambitious strategy for geographic expansion and strengthening its presence across different governorates, Suez Canal Bank announced the opening of its latest branch in Sohag Governorate. This comes within the Bank's plan to expand in Upper Egypt in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and the directives of the Central Bank of Egypt to promote sustainable development and enhance financial inclusion.

The branch opening was attended by a group of Suez Canal Bank's executives, including Mr. Tarek Salah, Head of Distribution Channels, Ms. Nour Elzeny, Head of Financial Inclusion, Corporate Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Mr. Adel Abdel Latif, Head of Branch Network, and Mr. Ayman Barakat, Head of Commercial Distribution, in addition to branch leaders and representatives.

The branch was designed internally and externally in line with Suez Canal Bank's new corporate identity and its vision based on innovation and providing a more advanced and flexible banking experience for clients. This step reflects the Bank's keenness to offering innovative banking services and supporting development projects in economically promising governorates.

Sohag Governorate is considered one of the main economic pillars in Upper Egypt, as it has witnessed noticeable growth in infrastructure projects and industrial zones, along with increasing commercial and investment activity. Therefore, the opening of the branch represents an extension of the Bank's efforts to support the local business community and meet the needs of individual and corporate clients, reinforcing the Bank's role as a development partner across different governorates.

The new Sohag branch offers a wide range of banking solutions, including:

  • Retail Banking: Opening current accounts, savings accounts, and certificates of deposit; issuing debit and credit cards; personal loans and car loans.
  • Support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs): Flexible financing programs to support entrepreneurs and youth, aiming to support the industrial, agricultural, and service activities for which the governorate is known.
  • Corporate Banking: Integrated financing solutions, letters of credit, letters of guarantee, and financial advisory services to support major investors and factories in Sohag's industrial zones.
  • Digital Transformation: Providing internet banking services, mobile banking, and the SCB E-Wallet, enhancing ease of transactions and offering a modern and secure banking experience.

In this context, Mr. Akef El Maghraby, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Suez Canal Bank, stated that the opening of the new Suez Canal Bank branch in Sohag Governorate reflects the Bank's strong belief in the governorate's significant economic potential, emphasizing the Bank's keenness to being an active partner in the journey of growth and sustainable development.

Mr. El Maghraby explained that the opening of the new Sohag branch is not limited to providing banking services only, but also extends to being a partner in development by creating job opportunities for the governorate's residents, expanding the base of financial inclusion and reaching new customer segments, in addition to supporting local development plans by financing productive and investment projects, as well as focusing on financing environmentally friendly projects.

For his part, Mr. Shehab Zidan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, stated that the opening of the Sohag branch represents a new step in Suez Canal Bank's well-planned expansion journey, which aims to strengthen its presence in regions and governorates with promising economic potential.

Mr. Zidan added that the Bank is moving forward with its plan to offer more competitive services and products, in addition to adopting an ambitious strategy to expand the range of digital solutions provided to individual and corporate clients, by keeping pace with the latest technological advancements.

It is worth noting that the opening of the Sohag branch comes as part of the Bank's expansion plan, which recently included the opening of Al-Irshad branch at the Suez Canal Authority and Al-Rehab branch in New Cairo. Accordingly, Suez Canal Bank's branch network has reached 56 branches across different governorates, contributing to expanding the customer base by providing a wide range of banking services, products, and solutions that meet their diverse needs.
